We all have a story to tell.
We all have those hardships, triumphs and moments of truth that occur throughout our lifetime and shape us into who we are today.
Here’s my story.
We all have a story to tell.
We all have those hardships, triumphs and moments of truth that occur throughout our lifetime and shape us into who we are today.
Here’s my story.
Several years ago, I found myself in a place of significant health decline. I was overweight and on 13 different daily medications, while struggling with several autoimmune disorders, chronic fatigue, constant debilitating pain, severe depression, anxiety attacks, insomnia, digestive issues, hormonal issues, infertility and thyroid failure. I had what appeared to be, on the outside, a great life. But inside I was falling apart, emotionally, mentally, spiritually and physically. I went from doctor to doctor and tried every medication that they prescribed, but nothing worked.
And then three things happened that changed my life.
First, a friend recommended trying a gluten-free diet to help manage my anxiety and depression. I was in shock. I had no idea that your diet could impact your mental health. Second, I began counseling. I had gone to several counselors throughout my life, honestly finding no benefit from it. But this time it was different. This counselor was actually willing to tell me the truth and hold me accountable. She was kind, yet firm and realistic. It was scary and refreshing all at the same time and I began to thrive under her care.
And then the third thing happened. I went to see a naturopathic doctor, and he discovered that my thyroid was barely functional. He shared so much information with me about how foods, vitamins, minerals and herbs could give my body what it needed to heal. I was in disbelief that I had been to so many other physicians and they had never once addressed these things in this manner. They would just give me another pill and send me home. I started following his recommendations and everything completely changed.
Today, I am the happiest and healthiest that I have ever been in my life and I have truly been transformed. For many years, I had owned and ran a successful security company, but my experience inspired me to change my path, and become a Holistic Health and Lifestyle Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. It was there that I learned innovative coaching methods, practical lifestyle management techniques, and over 100 dietary theories – Ayurveda, gluten-free, Paleo, raw, vegan, macrobiotics, and everything in between.
I studied with the world’s leading health and wellness experts including:
After I began coaching, I soon realized that what I do isn’t at all about telling a client to stop eating white bread and start eating apples. What it means to be truly healthy is that we are functioning at our highest potential not only physically, but mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Often times the source of a person’s chronic, long-term pain is not at all physical, but rather a physical manifestation of emotional trauma, potentially something significant that occurred years or even decades ago. I began to see this over and over with my clients and soon became connected with Dr. Chris Barnes, DC, and founder of Tensegrity Chiropractic.
For years, Dr. Barnes has been studying and implementing this connection between emotional energy and physical pain, and has seen incredible results with his patients. In 2019, I joined the practice as their Intuitive Life Coach, and 2022, I expanded my certifications to include: internationally certified holistic health coach, master life coach, and trauma and recovery practitioner. I am thrilled to be a part of this incredible team and be able to offer hope to the patients and clients we see every day.
